On Thursday, November 14 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., head to Jade Events (431 Beach 129th St.) for a local shopping extravaganza, with a complimentary cocktail. Vendors selling clothing, food, candles, jewelry, sunglasses and more.

 

MTA Town Hall Meeting

On Thursday, November 14 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., head to the Rockaway YMCA (207 Beach 73rd St.) for a town hall hosted by Councilwoman Brooks-Powers and the MTA to discuss the upcoming 17-week shutdown of the A Train and shuttle from January through May. Plus learn about job opportunities and more.

 

Bayside Plan Presentation

On Friday, November 15 at 5 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a follow-up presentation with Harvard University Graduate School of Design to see what the Department of Landscape Architecture came up with after the design charrette with Rockaway residents last month, about neighborhoods along Jamaica Bay, from Beach 80th Street to the Nassau County line. Refreshments will be served. Full Beaver Moon Hike

On Friday, November 15 at 4:30 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge for a ranger-led hike to learn about the traditional name for this moon and look for signs of the story it represents. All ages welcome. Flashlights and/or headlamps are recommended. Dress for the weather. Cancelled by heavy rain or storms.

 

Run Rockaway Half Marathon & 5K

On Saturday, November 16, the Rockaway Track Club is hosting a Thanksgiving Half Marathon and 5K run. Check in at Healy’s Pub (108-07 Rockaway Beach Dr.) at 8 a.m. for day-of registration and bib pickup. Race starts on the boardwalk at Beach 108th at 9 a.m. Pre-register at Rockawaytc.org

 

Thanksgiving Food Drive

On Saturday, November 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the 100th Precinct Community Council will be outside of both Stop & Shop locations to collect non-perishable items or gift cards.

 

Rockaway Makers Market

On Saturday, November 16 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., head to the Rockaway Beach Surf Club (302 Beach 87th St.) to shop from local vendors while enjoying local food and drinks.

 

Breezy Point Beach Cleanup

On Sunday, November 17 at 10 a.m., head to the Fishing Lot at Beach 222nd Street to join the National Park Service and the New York City Plover Project for a beach cleanup of the beaches of Breezy Point. Glove, garbage bags, and pickers provided. 100th Precinct Meeting

On Wednesday, November 20 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th St.) for the monthly 100th Precinct Community Council meeting.

On Saturdays through May 3, at 11 a.m., head to the Far Rockaway Library (1637 Central Ave.) to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

On Mondays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris leads a free 30-minute class focusing on core and lower body. Bring a mat. All levels welcome!
