Rockaway Beach Turkey Trot
On Thanksgiving Thursday, November 28, the Rockaway Track Club is hosting the Healy’s Pub and Run Rockaway Turkey Trot. Check in at Healy’s Pub (108-07 Rockaway Beach Dr.) at 9 a.m. for day-of registration and bib pickup. The 5K race starts on the boardwalk at Beach 108th at 10 a.m. Pre-register at Rockawaytc.org
Jamaica Bay Super Hike
On Friday, November 29 at 12 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to walk off your Thanksgiving feast while enjoying the great outdoors. Join a Park Ranger for a big hike along both the main trail and the lesser visited areas of the Wildlife Refuge. Learn about the plants, birds, and habitat of this unique National Park.
Shell Crafts
On Saturday, November 30 at 2 p.m., head to the Beach 94th Amphitheater and get creative with the Urban Park Rangers as we make unique ocean-inspired art. Make anything from jewelry to sculptures using shells and other materials provided by the Rangers.
Callie’s Christmas Tree Lighting
On Saturday, November 30 at 6 p.m., head to Callie’s (410A Beach 129th Street) for their annual Christmas tree lighting. Kids can meet with Santa and receive hot cocoa and cookies. Specialty drinks for adults.
Floyd Bennett Field:
The Municipal Airport
On Sunday, December 1 at 2 p.m., head to the Ryan Visitor Center at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn to join a park ranger for a history talk and slide presentation on New York City’s first municipal airport during the 1930’s “Golden Age of Aviation.”
Beach 116th Christmas Tree Lighting
On Monday, December 2 at 4 p.m., head to Beach 116th Street to enjoy meet and greets with Santa, giveaways, performances and more. The tree will be lit at 6:30 p.m.
Defensive Driving Class
On Tuesdays, December 3 and December 10 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., head to St. Camillus Cottage, adjacent to the church, at 99-15 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, for a Six Hour Defensive Driving Class. Save a minimum 10% on liability, collision and no-fault insurance or get four points off your license. $45 guarantees you a seat. You must attend both nights. Call Don Henglein at 917-553-2408 to sign up. Proceeds benefit St. Camillus church.
Hawk Watch
On Saturdays through November 30, at 10:30 a.m., head to Battery Harris in Fort Tilden to join a park ranger for the chance to see birds of prey like osprey, peregrine falcons, and bald eagles as they fly overhead. Learn to ID them by silhouette and at rest. Cancelled if raining.
Cardio Punch
On Saturdays through May 3, at 11 a.m., head to the Far Rockaway Library (1637 Central Ave.) to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.
Master Fitness™
On Mondays from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris teaches a free 45-minute exercise class. All ages and levels welcome!
Core on the Floor

On Wednesdays at 11 a.m., head to Battalion Pentecostal Assembly Church (454 Beach 67th Street) to receive a package of free food and produce.
Little North Pole Lighting
On Saturday, December 7 at 3 p.m., head to Joe Mure’s home (144-03 Neponsit Ave.) for the annual lighting of the Little North Pole! Performances, food, toys from Santa and more!
