Rockaway Beach Civic Meeting

On Thursday, January 9 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) upstairs meeting room for the monthly Rockaway Beach Civic Association meeting.

 

Jamaica Bay Park Pals

On Saturday, January 11 at 10:30 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge for Park Pals, a program designed to engage families with young children (ages 0-6 years old) in safe nature exploration. Activities include themed read-alouds, discovery walks led by a Ranger, crafts, and more! Pre-registration is required via jbrpc.org/parkpals

 

Friend in Need Benefit

On Saturday, January 11 at 7 p.m., head to the Belle Harbor Yacht Club (533 Beach 126th Street) for a Friend in Need Benefit show featuring local band Wine With Sue. No cover, cash bar, 50/50 raffle. Proceeds benefit a local family in need after a medical diagnosis.

 

Robert Moses & Jamaica Bay

On Sunday, January 12 at 2 p.m., head to the Ryan Visitor Center in Floyd Bennett Field to join a park ranger to discover New York’s “Master Builder’s” influence over the shape over present-day Jamaica Bay.

 

Community Board 14

On Tuesday, January 14 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for the monthly CB14 meeting. Presentation from City Bridge-5G, Health committee report and more. To speak, arrive prior to the meeting to sign up for public speaking.

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays through May 3, at 11 a.m., head to the Far Rockaway Library (1637 Central Ave.) to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

 

Bodyweight Circuit Training

On Tuesdays at 5 p.m., head to The B.R.I.D.G.E. (217 Beach 92nd Street) for a circuit training class that combines bodyweight resistance training and conditioning for a full-body workout. All levels welcome. Bring a mat.  First-come, first-served.

 

Cardio Punch

On Thursdays through May 1, at 6 p.m., head to the Arverne meeting room (312 Beach 54th Street) to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

 

Master Fitness™

On Mondays from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris teaches a free 45-minute exercise class. All ages and fitness levels are welcome! Support provided by FRANC and Fund for the City of New York.

 

Core on the Floor

On Mondays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris leads a free 30-minute class focusing on core and lower body. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels are welcome!

 

Uplifted Dance Fitness

On Mondays and Tuesdays at 11 a.m., head to Redfern Community Center (1544 Hassock Street) for a free dance workout class with Miss Dawn.

 

Free Winter Semester Classes

Register now for free classes at the Peninsula Adult Leaning Center, Queens Library (92-25 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) GED Test Prep and Testing Center and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). Classes begin January 6. GED TESTING twice monthly – call for more info: 718-945-7058

 

Poseidon’s Prom

Save the date and grab your date! Poseidon’s Prom is Saturday, February 1 at Connolly’s Bar (155 Beach 95th Street). Wear your best nautical prom look, enjoy art and music, raffles and more. $20 entrance at the door. Proceeds benefit Poseidon’s Parade in September.
