The 2024 Summer Classic playoffs began last Thursday, August 1, with the quarterfinals of the Tim Klein Mens Open League. In Division 1, top seed Callie’s beat the Harbor Light while Jamesons knocked off defending champions JG Electric in the game of the night. Kennedy’s beat Rockaway Beach Local and Cabana got past A&S at the Harbor. Tonight’s semifinals have Kennedy’s-Jamesons at 7:15 p.m. and Callie’s-Cabana at 8:30 p.m.
In Division 2, Team Crate, LUV Cleaning, ServPro, and Tap That all advanced setting up tonight’s games at 7:15 p.m. between LUV Cleaning and Tap That at 7:15 p.m., followed by Team Crate and ServPro at 8:30, all weather permitting. Championship night for both divisions is Thursday, August 15.
Regular season play continues in the Clare Droesch Womens Open Division. Pico/Batesy’s leads at 5-0, followed by Crush Studio (4-1), Champion Elevators (3-1), Graf-X (3-2), Jamesons (2-3), BHYC (2-3), Whit’s End (1-5), and Connolly’s (0-5).
Girls High School completed their regular season schedule on Wednesday, August 7. First round playoffs are Monday, August 12 and semifinals on Wednesday, August 14 at St. Camillus Springman Hall.
The first round of Boys High School playoffs were scheduled on Wednesday, August 7 with quarterfinals scheduled for Monday, August 12. Boys Grammar Senior first round is scheduled for tomorrow (Friday), August 9 with quarterfinals set for Tuesday, August 13. Boys Grammar Middle quarterfinals are slotted for Monday, August 12 and Girls Grammar Senior quarterfinals are Tuesday, August 13. Semifinals for all four groups are scheduled for Wednesday, August 14 and Championships on Friday, August 16.
Extensive rain this week may result in schedule changes so stay in touch with your division directors and coaches. The 40th Summer Classic is nearly complete, so get ready for the best in hoops this week.
