Hello, and happy new year! My name is Jen Kelleher and I am the new owner at Ocean Bliss Yoga Studio. The new year often brings inspiration to make resolutions for a brighter future. In that spirit, let’s look at some of the key ingredients for turning good intentions into successful endeavors!

  1. Heartfelt Intention: To achieve and surpass your expectations, resolutions must be backed by a heartfelt intention. Your intention is your ‘why’ and it provides the passion necessary to stay energized and on track. Why are you wanting to take this step or make this change? As you consider the question, I invite you to continue dialing down your answer until you arrive at a feeling. What is the feeling you are wanting to gain through your change? More peace? Energy? Freedom? Confidence? Once you have your answer, you can use it as a little mantra anytime you need to recenter. Close your eyes and bring your attention to your breath in your body. Land in your heartspace and repeat your word softly to yourself on the rhythm of your breath.
  2. Believe: Next comes convincing your mind that you are worthy of attaining your goals. Here is where it gets fun! Visualizing your success and getting your body to experience what it would feel like to have already arrived effectively bridges the gap between where you are and where you want to be. Let your mind observe your body having the feeling of your success. In a short time, the mind realizes that you actually already have what it was searching for. The more you do this practice, the more natural it becomes and the quicker you step into your worth and manifest your dreams.
  3. Mental Focus: The mind is a powerful tool that magnifies whatever it points at. Being intentional with where and how you focus your mind’s attention gives you control over your life. Be careful to focus on abundance and not lack. Use affirmations like, “I am it, I have it, I embody it,” instead of, “I need it, I want it, I have to get it.” Daily meditation and yoga is a great way to help improve your ability to focus.
  4. Presence: The final and most important part of being successful in your resolutions is presence. The only place that anything can ever happen is right here. If you are too caught up in the past or future the steps toward reaching your goal will feel like a grind and sustaining your results will prove to be very difficult. Deep and lasting transformation without the burnout is a result of meeting yourself where you are and tending to what is here with love and compassion. The future is always a reflection of our current level of presence. Remind yourself that there is nowhere to run to. You are always exactly as and where you are supposed to be and this version of you is perfect.
