A Summer Greeting From City Councilwoman Joann Ariola
Can you believe it’s already time for another summer in the Rockaways? It feels like St. Patrick’s Day was just yesterday!
For those of you out there who had summer creep up on them, don’t worry – this guidebook you’re holding has you more than covered. With the latest information on Rockaway’s beaches, businesses, and more, the Rockaway Times Summer & Community Guide will certainly help you get in gear as the peninsula heads into the busy season.
And speaking of the busy season, make sure to do your part in keeping Rockaway the jewel in the crown of New York’s summer scene by stopping by some of our great local businesses. Rockaway’s merchants need your support both during the summer and in the off-season, so whenever possible, do your shopping at one of the many shops we have right here on the peninsula. Many people might not even realize just how much is available right here at home, so be sure to thumb through this guide and take note of what we’ve got before deciding to make that purchase elsewhere. We have some amazing businesses on Beach 116th Street, Beach 129th Street, and the other commercial areas of the peninsula, and you might be surprised at all that they have to offer!
While you’re out enjoying the neighborhood, remember to do your part to improve your community in other ways as well. Pop into a civic meeting, take part in a clean-up, or even write a letter to your local newspaper – these are just a few simple ways you can contribute to making your neighborhood a better place.
Finally, don’t forget, if there is ever anything we can do to help make your Rockaway summer even better, please don’t hesitate to give my office a call at 718-318-6411. My staff and I are always here to help with any issues you may have!
