A Thank You from St. Mary Star of the Sea and St. Gertrude Parish Far Rockaway

A Thank You from St. Mary Star of the Sea and St. Gertrude Parish Far Rockaway

A wise sage once said that you can never say “Thank You” enough. When we get the opportunity to do so, we must seize it and express gratitude! With Thanksgiving now in the rearview mirror, the Parish of St. Mary Star of the Sea/St. Gertrude wishes to THANK all our friends and neighbors on the Rockaway Peninsula for their generosity and benevolence. The week before Thanksgiving, the Rockaway Greybeards organized a massive “blue bag” food drive to replenish local food pantries. A steady stream of cars and SUVs pulled into the driveway at St. Mary’s rectory and delivered hundreds of blue bags of food.

The Monday before Thanksgiving saw 150 turkeys delivered to St. Mary’s and distributed free of charge that day!

On Thanksgiving morning, hundreds of church goers processed after the morning mass to the school hall for their Thanksgiving meal. By the time they locked the doors, over 500 people were fed that day!

A good steward is about sharing time, talent, and treasure! The Rockaway peninsula once again proved that stewardship is alive and well. Hundreds of people shared either their time, talent, and/or treasure and the Parish Family of St. Mary Star of the Sea/St. Gertrude says THANK YOU. We assure you of our prayers!
