ARVERNE BY THE SEA
Arverne by the Sea doesn’t look like anything else in Rockaway. To its west on Shore Front Parkway are Dayton and Surfside Towers, 12-story high apartment buildings that have been around for decades. To the immediate east, there remains a lack of beachfront property in Edgemere and other parts of Far Rockaway. But from the Ocean Breeze Condos on Beach 80th Street to the neighboring Water’s Edge complex on Beach 60th Street, Arverne by the Sea has led a revitalization of the south side of Arverne and is a primary symbol of the overall Rockaway Renaissance.
Arverne by the Sea is split up into six separate “neighborhoods”—Ocean Breeze (which is exclusively condos), Palmer’s Landing, The Sands, The Breakers, The Dunes, and most recently, The Tides, which offers residential rentals and retail shops. Arverne by the Sea has spearheaded the remaking of the north side of Rockaway Beach Boulevard by bringing in the Rockaway YMCA, a giant Stop and Shop, a transit plaza on Beach 69th Street, and a retail area on either side of Rockaway Beach Boulevard.
Vino by the Sea, Boardwalk Pizza, and Batesy’s are popular spots as are Cuisine by Claudette and Locals, a cozy café. But look there’s more! Rockaway Tiki Bar, and Super Burrito are attracting crowds like never before. Arverne By The Sea is now truly a destination spot!
