GHOST TOWN?

 GHOST TOWN?

So the streets are quiet and nobody seems to be around on Wednesday evenings in the summer. What gives?

Well, it’s volleyball night at Riis Park and that means a thousand or more people flock to Riis Park to play in the Rockaway Beach Volleyball League. We think it’s also the place with the highest concentration of unattended bicycles anywhere as hundreds of bikes are locked to the beachside railings as the matches are played.

This year, with several locals taking the reins at the Riis Park concessions, we can expect an even bigger party every hump day!

So that’s why Wednesdays can seem like a ghost town. (At least until late night when a lot of these active types head to local establishments).
