Beach 146th Takes the New Year’s Dip

One of the biggest polar plunges where locals and visitors gather to ring in the New Year is Beach 146th Street. This year was no different on the bright, sunny, and brisk day.

As the clock struck noon, hundreds ran into the chilly Atlantic to rinse off and ring in 2024, while some found prime seats to watch the action and cheer the polar bears on. Most took a quick dip, and a few decided to make it last, swimming laps between the new jetties. After the plunge, some popped some champagne to warm up, while others quickly bundled up and went on to celebrate the rest of New Year’s Day
