Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Like many great things in Rockaway, we love to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day twice. So, enjoy the corned beef once more and enjoy another round of Guinness. With St. Patrick’s Day falling on a Sunday this year, the big parade in the city is Saturday. Fingers crossed the weather cooperates for all the parade-goers! Sláinte!

We sprung our clocks forward last weekend. Daylight Saving Time may wreak havoc on the body’s routine but there is no denying how nice it is to have an extra hour of sunlight at the end of the day. In fact, yesterday was the first day of the year the sun set after 7 p.m. A great reminder that our favorite time of the year is on its way.

Why did the chicken cross the road? We don’t know. But we do know that there was a chicken spotted roaming around on Beach 134th Street and Newport Ave. yesterday morning. With Rockaway so focused on the corned beef this month, no one even seemed to notice.
