More WWE Releases, Rematch at Fastlane, Plus More!!!
Hey WrestleTalk Fans! So, I have a lot to talk about this week, especially news coming from the WWE. Let’s dive into it!
The WWE recently announced more cuts to their roster of performers. Last week, after the merger with the UFC creating the TKO Group, the WWE continued to release more of its talent. It currently has released 21 performers. The names of the released talent are: Dolph Ziggler, Matt Riddle, Dana Brooke, Mustafa Ali, Rick Boogs, Aliyah, Elias, Riddick Moss, Top Dolla, Shelton Benjamin, Emma, Dabba-Kato, Mansoor, Mace, Quincy Elliott, Shanky, Yuliya, Kevin Ventura-Cotez, Ikeman Jiro, Brooklyn Barlow and Bryson Montana. The release that really bothers me was Dolph Ziggler. This man had close to 20 years working with the WWE and has worked with everyone in the promotion. His knowledge and experience were invaluable. The younger talent could have learned a lot from all his experiences.
Well, folks, like I have said before, the WWE is not the company it once was. I feel the merger with the UFC actually saved them. I want to wish all the released talent the very best in their future endeavors.
Staying with the WWE, they have officially announced a Last Man Standing Match for their upcoming Live Premium Event “Fastlane.” We will finally see a rematch between Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura. This is a match that many fans wanted to see, including myself. I’m pulling for a Nakamura win!
AEW has officially announced that AEW Superstar Eddie Kingston has resigned with the company. Eddie signed a new 4-year extension with AEW. He is the current ROH World Champion and NJPW STRONG Champion and has reported that he is happy to be staying with AEW. Eddie has a major title defense this coming October 1, 2023, as he is putting up both his titles at the WrestleDream Live Event.
The Question of The Week comes from Brian H. in Rockaway Park, and he asked, “I’m a big New Japan Pro Wrestling fan and my favorite is Katsuyori Shitbata. But I haven’t been able to keep up with his career. Can you update me on his on-goings?” Sure, Brian, no problem. Shitbata is actually set to take on Eddie Kingston for the ROH and NJPW STRONG Championships at the WrestleDream Live Event October 1, 2023. Shitbata, has been keeping himself working for AEW, and also serving as head trainer for the NJPW Dojo in Los Angeles. He remains active as a wrestler. Thanks for the question!
