The St. Camillus/ St. Virgilius basketball program is underway with 150 local kids from 4th grade to 8th grade, playing in the Girls and Boys leagues. Here are some standout players this week.

Kate Tyminski

 Girls League

Kate is, without question, one of the best players in the league. She does everything on the court: scores, rebounds, plays tenacious defense, and she is also the clear leader of the team. She takes control of the game and skillfully orchestrates the offense. Kate dominates inside and from beyond the arc as well. She poured in 24 of her team’s 42 points, including four three-pointers. Due to her amazing performance her Light Blue team was able to keep this game close and come up just 3 points shy of a victory.

Joseph McDermott

Senior Boys League

Joseph is a smooth player who has all the moves. He slices his way through any defense. He was especially hot on this particular day. He kept attacking the defense and scoring at will using everything in his arsenal: turn-around jumpers, reverse lay-ups, one handed floaters, etc. He’s got every move. He led all scorers in this game with 18 points. He did everything he could to lead his team to victory, but they still came up just four points short.

Patrick Palmese

Senior Boys League

Patrick was on fire this week. He always captains the offense from his point-guard position, but this week he did so much more. Everything he put up went in. The moves he was making were unstoppable. After the game was over there was some question if he missed at all. He scored 24 points on 11 shots from the field (made nine) and five shots from the foul line (made them all). That kind of efficiency is amazing. He ended up leading his team to an exciting three-point victory.
