Tee’s Art Club

 Tee’s Art Club

By Theresa M Racine

Tee’s Arts and Crafts Club will resume on Tuesday, February 25 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima (130 Beach 84th Street). The club’s mission is to foster community and family bonding by providing a shared space where children and parents can engage in various art projects. Now in its second year, the art club has assembled a diverse team of artists including Natty Tricarico, who has expertise in working with children, and Mike, our local artist, as well as several volunteers to sustain the club’s activities.

With the start of the new season, we will launch our Heart Awareness Week, with a touch of Valentine’s. Kids will create heart cups with candies and small toys to take home, while adults will design stunning heart jars for tea lights or treats. As a community-focused club, all are welcomed to join and it’s free. We will have a donation jar and box if you would like to give back. We are proud to be self-sustaining thanks to community support. During the brief hiatus, we received generous art supply donations from Paul King, John Cori and numerous community members from the Rockaways who have kindly delivered the supplies. We are grateful for their support and look forward to resuming our activities.

This year, our goal is to establish partnerships with hospitals, zoos, the NYPD and other organizations to promote awareness about various topics, including zoo conservation, heart health and holiday celebrations. We also intend to host social gatherings where members can bring a dish to share and enjoy each other’s company. To enhance our club’s activities, we plan to utilize natural resources such as shells, rocks, sea glass and driftwood. We will continue to offer other popular activities including jewelry making and graffiti art. For the upcoming event on February 25, please bring your own jar as our supplies can be limited to the amount of people who are already in the club. All supplies are available on a first come, first serve basis. To RSVP, call Theresa at 646-408-1200.
