Summer Classic Wraps Up

The 2023 St. Francis Summer Classic came to a rousing close on Thursday, August 24 with the Boys Grammar Middle and Boys Grammar Senior championship games. Brothers Vincent Giuseffi and Robbie Giuseffi exploded for a combined 48 points as Pizza on the Point prevailed over Creamer Street Realty 58-49. Brothers Paul and Michael Pedone led Creamer with 18 and 14 respectively. Pizza on the Point is coached by Patrick Hayden and in addition to the Giuseffi brothers, the champions are Jack McCann, Danny Rafferty, Padraig O’Rourke, Tommy O’Neill, Brendan Hayden, Petey Hayden, Ryan Tubridy, and James McGuinness.
The gym was packed as the Senior game began and nobody left as the game was tight throughout until the final 30 seconds. Hughie Courtney poured in 28 points, but it was not enough as Rockawave Volleyball Training pulled out a 62-57 win. Marie Raico and Bob Melli coached the champs who were led by Luke Walsh with 24 and Nick Grecco with 22, joined by Sean McDonough, Nico D’Aniello, Giuseppe Mazzola, Tyler Mancusi, William Gavinovich, Lorenzo Callipo, Marco Melli, and Luke Raico.
Tuesday night’s champion for Girls High School was NF Beauty coached by Sue Kenny and the players are Kaitlyn Kenny, Liz Kenny, Callie Mullin, Riley Mills, Layla Duggan, Alex Carbonaro, Haylie O’Keefe, Keira O’Sullivan, Ciara Culleton, and Lauren Owens.
Clare Droesch Women’s Open champions are Crush Studio-Kathryn Gibson, Emer Moloney, Kaitlyn Mahon, Liz Limonta, Taylor Gallagher, Jessica Glaz, Aryn McLure, Lauren Hammersley, and Shannon Barrett.
Next year is the Big 4-0 for the Sumer Classic. Lots of special events are being planned. See you next summer at the St. Francis Summer Classic.
