Thank You, Thai Rock

 Thank You, Thai Rock

On Saturday, August 31, beloved Thai restaurant Thai Rock closed its doors to the public for the last time.

After her husband and co-owner Robert Kaskel died on August 10, 2023, Metta Kaskel kept the restaurant going for the past year, but she recently made the decision to retire and move, splitting her time between Florida and Thailand, to be closer to family. If you miss Thai Rock’s food, Metta will be helping out at her sister’s restaurant, Siam Rice Thai and Tapas in Hollywood, FL. The property at Beach 92nd Street and the bay remains up for sale. Rockaway Jet Ski, located on the dock at Thai Rock, continues to operate for the season.

Thai Rock opened in 2011, bringing Thai cuisine to Rockaway for the first time, and with Robert Kaskel bringing innovate ways to use his property with holiday parties, hosting live music, giving things like jet skiing, the flyboard, the Tarzan Boat and Paint Nites a try, launching the Taste of Rockaway Beach and much more. Thai Rock will truly be missed. We wish Metta well in her next steps!
