The Warriors Are Coming July 6

The warriors are returning! After a hiatus due to Covid, Hope for the Warriors is coming back for a Rockaway Warrior Weekend, and it all starts with a parade on next Thursday evening, July 6.

Make sure to grab your flags and head out to cheer the warriors on as they come through town next Thursday. About 20 warriors from across the country and their families will leave with FDNY and NYPD escorts from Rescue 5 in Staten Island and will travel along the Belt Parkway, crossing over the Marine Parkway Bridge at about 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. They are expected to reach Rockaway Beach Boulevard by around 6:30 to 6:45 p.m., where they’ll travel down to Beach 120th Street and make a left turn down to Beach Channel Drive, where they’ll continue up to Breezy Point, to enjoy a weekend full of activities like a welcome party, water activities like adaptive surfing through AmpSurf, paddle boarding, kayaking and boat rides for fishing and sailing, from July 7 through 8, and ending with a Mass at the Breezy Point  9/11 Memorial on Sunday, July 9. There will also be a Warrior Cruise with a sunset sail around New York Harbor, leaving from Brooklyn Army Terminal. Tickets include food and a DJ, plus access to a cash bar and are $100.

Special Rockaway Warrior Weekend t-shirts will be on sale along the parade route on Thursday, and through the Breezy Point community. For sunset cruise tickets or t-shirts, contact Richie Cannon at 917-577-1173 or Richie Whalen at 718-640-5081.
