Watercolors by the Seaside
On Saturday, February 22 at 10 a.m., head to Beach 44th Street and the boardwalk to take inspiration from the beach and create watercolor masterpieces of your very own. Learn about the importance of a healthy ocean and why Rockaway Beach is so important while practicing painting techniques with an Urban Ranger.
Plant Pressing & Zine Workshop
On Saturday, February 22 at 12:30 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join NPS rangers, local artist Samsam Graves, and Gotham Taxidermy’s Divya Anantharaman for a free art workshop. Plant pressing is a method for preserving plants by flattening and drying them between sheets of paper. After getting your presses assembled, you will create your own mini “zines” using your pressed plants and flowers for inspiration. Materials provided, but all are welcome to bring their own flowers.
BCVFD Installation Dance
On Saturday, February 22 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., head to the American Legion Post 1404 (209 Cross Bay Blvd.) for the installation of this year’s Broad Channel Volunteer Firefighter chiefs and officers. $50 per person. Cardinal Arts & Crafts
On Sunday, February 23 at 2 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to learn about winter’s most iconic bird: the cardinal. You’ll read a book about cardinals, then create your very own cardinals with fingerpainting! This is an indoor activity.
100th Precinct Community Council Meeting
On Wednesday, February 26 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for the monthly 100th Pct meeting. Special guests from the NYPC Animal Cruelty Unit and a Ridgewood Savings rep to speak about fraud.
Cardio Punch
On Saturdays through May 3, at 11 a.m., head to the Far Rockaway Library (1637 Central Ave.) to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.
Chair Movement Class
On Monday and Wednesdays at 10 a.m., head to Temple Beth-El (201 Beach 121st Street) for Chair Movement class, stretching and strengthening for your whole body and mind. Donation based.
Master Fitness™
On Mondays from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris teaches a free 45-minute exercise class. All ages and fitness levels are welcome! Support provided by FRANC and Fund for the City of New York.
Core on the Floor
On Mondays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris leads a free 30-minute class focusing on core and lower body. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels are welcome!

On Tuesdays at 5 p.m., head to The B.R.I.D.G.E. (217 Beach 92nd Street) for a circuit training class that combines bodyweight resistance training and conditioning for a full-body workout. All levels welcome. Bring a mat. First-come, first-served.
Cardio Punch
On Thursdays through May 1, at 6 p.m., head to the Arverne meeting room (312 Beach 54th Street) to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.
