On Saturday, September 30 at 9 a.m. until the afternoon, head to the Beach 108th hockey rink to check out some charitable street hockey matches in memory of the late Ryan Rudden. Music, food, raffles and more.
Community Dune Preserve Planting
On Saturday, September 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Beach 62nd and the boardwalk to participate in this community planting with RISE to establish Rockaway Dune Preserve as part of the “Greater Rockaway” Coastal Plan. A-Train Serpent Sculpture Unveiling
On Saturday, September 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Beach 60th Street & Rockaway Freeway to join RISE for the unveiling of Zaq Landsberg’s A-Train Serpent Sculpture! The A train is an integral part of the Rockaways and waiting on the platform for that glowing blue “A” is a unifying experience for all residents.
Art Workshop: Buena Onda Collective
On Saturday, September 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Beach 60th Street & Rockaway Freeway, under the elevated A-train tracks for an art workshop. Oneiromancy, divination through dreams, is an installation and animated augmented reality community world-building experience that transforms a multiblock path beneath the A train in Far Rockway. The first of a three-workshop series, Buena Onda Collective will teach residents and visitors, alike, how to build 3D models that explore their personal histories, dreams, and ecological relationships to the Rockaways.
Catch a Cure 5K
On Sunday, October 1 at 9 a.m., head to Beach 116th and the boardwalk to cheer on the runners/ walkers of the Catch a Cure 5K for cancer awareness. Want to participate? Register online at Rockawaytc.org by 6 p.m. on September 30 or in person at Rogers on Beach 116th before the race on October 1, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
Animal Rock
On Sunday, October 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Beach 94th and Shore Front Parkway for a celebration of human connections with animals. Animal memorial board, donation drive, animal peace walk, resources and more.
Literary Day
On Sunday, October 1, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) to support some of the Rockaway area’s local authors by buying their books and getting your copies signed!
JASA Weekly Arts

Chair Movement Class
On Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m., head to Temple Beth-El on Beach 121st Street for a Chair Movement Class led by Christine Walker. Donation based.
Chair Yoga
On Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a free chair yoga class led by certified yoga instructor Ruth Graves. Beginners to seasoned practitioners are welcome.
