Rockaway Beach Civic Association

On Thursday, April 4 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for the Rockaway Beach Civic Association’s monthly meeting. Hear updates from local leaders, meet CB14 District Manager Felicia Johnson and more.

 

Card Trading Night

On Thursday, April 4 at 7 p.m., head to Tap That (111-04 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a sports and Pokemon card trading night hosted by 7th Inning Stretch.

 

American Ballfields Cleanup

On Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., head to the American Ballfields in Broad Channel to join the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy for a shoreline cleanup. Gloves, bags, and tools will be provided. Dress for the weather. Event is rain or shine.

 

Community Dune Planting

On Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., join RISE at Beach 62nd Street and Beach Front Road, for a community planting of native grasses and shrubs to strengthen our natural protective buffer of dunes. Students who would like to do community service hours are welcome to bring paperwork.

 

Park Pals

On Saturday, April 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join JBRPC for Park Pals, a free weekend program designed to engage families with young children (ages 0-6) and their caregivers in safe nature exploration. This month’s session focuses on introducing little ones to the park and the urban wildlife. Enjoy read-alouds, walks, crafts and more.

 

Solar Eclipse Viewing

On Monday, April 8 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., head to Beach 44th and the boardwalk to join Urban Rangers for an opportunity to view the much-anticipated solar eclipse. Learn more about eclipses and why they occur. Borrow a pair of our safety viewing glasses or take a look through a solar lens telescope.

 

Community Board 14 Meeting

On Tuesday, April 9 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for the monthly community board meeting. Hear from several presenters. If you wish to speak during public speaking, show up early to sign up.

 

Spring Half Marathon/5K

On Saturday, April 13, the Rockaway Track Club hosts its Spring Half Marathon and 5K. Head to Beach 94th and the boardwalk at 8 a.m. for bib pickup and last-minute registration. Both runs start at 9 a.m. To pre-register, head to: rockawaytc.org

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head to Beach 60th and the boardwalk  to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

 

Master Fitness™

On Mondays from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris teaches a free 45-minute exercise class. All ages and fitness levels are welcome!

 

Core on the Floor

On Mondays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris leads a free 30-minute class focusing on core and lower body. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels are welcome!

 

Seaside Movie Night

On Thursdays at 5 p.m., head to Seaside Library (116-15 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a seasonal selection of movies our adults and older adult movie fans will enjoy!

 

Crochet Club for Kids

On Fridays at 4 p.m., kids ages 6-11 are welcome Peninsula Library (92-25 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) to learn the basics of crocheting and how to make a scarf or handbag. Must call 718-634-1110 to reserve a space.
