Car Parade for Tess and Sean

On Thursday, June 27 at 6:15 p.m., line your cars up at Beach 142nd and Newport Avenue, grab your signs and wear your red, white and blue to join the car parade to celebrate Sean Green and Tess Howley, our local swimmers who just competed in the Olympic trials.

 

Rockaway Market Street @ Beach 60th

On Saturday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Rockaway Market Street @ Beach 60th and the Rockaway Freeway to shop from local vendors. Brian Smith will be the musical performer.

 

Jamaica Bay Park Pals

On Saturday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge for Park Pals, a new program designed to engage families with young children (aimed at ages 0-6 years old) in safe nature exploration. Activities include themed read-alouds, discovery walks led by a Ranger, crafts, and more! Pre-registration is required via www.jbrpc.org/parkpals

 

RAA’s ‘All Who Wander’

On Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., head to T7 Gallery in Fort Tilden for Rockaway Artists Alliance’s summer exhibition, “All Who Wander.” On view through August 17.

 

Free Community Baby Shower

On Saturday, June 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., head to the Rockaway YMCA (207 Beach 73rd Street) for a free community baby shower event featuring free resources, refreshments, raffle giveaways, car seats, diapers, cribs, strollers, and baby essentials. If you would like to donate baby items for this event, contact Ms. Jackson at 917-940-3712.

 

Rock the Block Festival

On Saturday, June 29 at 12 p.m., head to the Rockaway Ravens Football Field at 102 Beach 32nd Street for a family fun day full of resources, snacks, performances, rides and other activities.

 

Shore Birds Festival

On Saturday, June 29 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., head to Beach 44th and the boardwalk for a day of educational activities and crafts to help us better understand how we can share the beach with shore birds. For all ages with activities geared to younger audiences.

 

Peace Festival

On Saturday, June 29 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., head to Beach 54th Street near Beach Channel Drive for a day of free giveaways, food trucks, rides and attractions, job, medical and housing resources and more.

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head to Beach 60th and the boardwalk to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

 

Mediative

Mondays

Every Monday in June, at 10:30 a.m., head to the Wise Clock at Riis Park join a Park Ranger for a meditative stroll on the beach and try out a few fun techniques to help you relax and enjoy the moment.

 

Master Fitness™

On Mondays from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris teaches a free 45-minute exercise class. All ages and fitness levels are welcome!

 

Core on the Floor

On Mondays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris leads a free 30-minute class focusing on core and lower body. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels are welcome!

 

Yoga with Soupy

On Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:30 a.m., head to Beach 102nd Street for a yoga class led by Soup Campbell.

 

Serene Yoga on the Beach

On Saturdays at 9 a.m. on Beach 126th and Sundays at 9 a.m. on Beach 97th, join Darlene for a yoga class. Bring a towel and water bottle. $5 suggested donation. See www.rockawaysereneyoga.com  for info.

 

Floyd Bennett Field Kayaking

On Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 a.m., head to the Floyd Bennett Field Seaplane Ramp in Brooklyn to enjoy kayaking for beginners. Open to ages 6 and up with an adult. Kayaks, personal floatation devices, paddles and instruction will be provided.
