West End Temple to Celebrate Shabbat Across America

The West End Temple, a Reform Jewish congregation in Neponsit will once again participate in the national “Shabbat Across America” program, opening to community members who may be interested in attending local services and/or contemplating joining a synagogue.

“We’ve seen a substantial increase in membership in the last few months,” West End’s Temple Administrator, Robby Schwach said. “Many people are watching the events overseas, coupled with acts of antisemitism at home and they want to be part of the larger Jewish community. We’re hoping to invite them in to celebrate the sabbath, meet Rabbi Rebecca Epstein and our members, see the programs we have to offer, and become part of the congregation if they wish.”

The Shabbat service is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.  on Friday, March 1, at the temple at 147-02 Newport Avenue, and will be geared towards people who may not have attended services in a while, with an explanation of sabbath customs and traditions. Following the service, dinner will be served. Childcare will be available.

The program is free, but those interested are asked to RSVP by calling the temple at 718-634-0301.
