In the vibrant realm of contemporary art, few artists capture the delicate balance between photorealism and ethereal beauty as masterfully as Christian Le Gars. Originally hailing from Paris, France, Le Gars has cultivated an illustrious career that spans continents and mediums, enchanting audiences with his exquisite miniatures of the French landscape and American cityscape, to include Rockaway Beach!

Le Gars’ show, “Metallic Mirages: Ethereal Watercolors Come to Life” is now on display. The opening reception will be held June 9 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Lighthouse inside Coastal Yogurt (108-19 Rockaway Beach Dr.) Musician Dan Guarino will be playing music at the reception. And of course, all the ice cream you love is available!

Le Gars’ intricate miniatures are a testament to his profound connection to the places he paints, reflecting moments of introspection and emotional resonance. Each brushstroke is imbued with the artist’s heart and soul, offering viewers a window into his unique perspective.

One of the hallmarks of Le Gars’ work is his exceptional ability to render photo-realistic expressions through his art. His landscapes and cityscapes are not just representations but vivid experiences that draw the viewer into the scene. The meticulous detail and stunning accuracy of his watercolors capture the essence of each location, from the serene, rolling hills of the French countryside to the bustling, dynamic streets of Parisian and American metropolises.

In addition to his mastery of watercolors, Christian Le Gars is a master printmaker, employing etching, and metallic shades and colors to create his prints. These techniques, which require precision and skill, allow Le Gars to explore different textures and depths, adding a rich, tactile dimension to his work. The result is a collection of prints that are as compelling and intricate as his paintings.

Le Gars offers his light to the world, aiming to bring joy and spark to the eyes and souls of those who encounter his art. He has been a Rockaway resident since 1997. His last show in Rockaway was InkSplash in T7 with the RAA, the year prior to Covid.

Le Gars’ ability to convey profound emotion and breathtaking beauty through his art has earned him a distinguished place in the world of fine art. His works are not merely viewed; they are felt, resonating deeply with audiences and leaving a lasting impression. As he continues to explore new landscapes and refine his techniques, the art world eagerly anticipates the next chapter in his enchanting journey.

His paintings and prints, which are available for sale, offer a moment of peace, a glimpse of the sublime, and a reminder of the enduring power of art to touch our hearts and souls.

Le Gars’ show runs through June 14 at Lighthouse.
