News On Matt Riddle, CM Punk & More!!!
I have to say, it’s been a very interesting couple of weeks in the world of professional wrestling. So, let’s not waste any time and let’s dive right in!
WWE Superstar Matt Riddle has made the headlines as he claimed, while at JFK International Airport, a Port Authority Police Officer had allegedly sexually assaulted him. This accusation has led to an investigation by the Port Authority Police Department. It is unclear if Matt Riddle has been taken off TV as of the writing of this column. The whole incident started when the Port Authority Police received a call of a “disorderly person” and the responding officers approached and talked to Matt Riddle. He was described as “apologetic.” The police officers talked to other people, and Matt was let go without incident. No police report was filed. We will keep you updated on this developing story.
So, as many of you already know, and as we have reported here, CM Punk was terminated from his contract. AEW Owner and CEO Tony Khan terminated him with cause following an investigation into a backstage incident at the AEW All In PPV in Wembley Stadium. Now, in wrestling, we always like to say, “Never Say Never” and the rumors are that CM Punk may be headed into talks with the WWE. These are reported rumors, but there are reports of WWE management weighing their options of a CM Punk return. For me personally, I would love to see it happen. We are keeping a close eye on this story.
We are sad to report that former AEW Superstar Sonny Kiss’ contract was not renewed, and Sonny will be moving on from AEW. I have known Sonny Kiss for several years now and had the pleasure of working matches against her in several different promotions. An extremely talented wrestler, and I know many great things are still ahead for her. I wish you nothing but the best in all your endeavors my friend!
WWE Hall of Famer Hacksaw Jim Duggan was recently hospitalized for an undisclosed emergency surgery. His wife, Debra, reported on social media that his surgery went well, and that he is on his way to recovery. We wish Hacksaw a speedy recovery.
The Question of the Week comes from Harold K. in Rockaway Beach, and he asked, “Can you tell me if you know if WWE Superstar Sonya Deville is coming back to the WWE after her injury?” Hi Harold, so Sonya Deville did suffer an injury last month. She suffered a torn ACL and has been focusing on rehab and family. She hasn’t directly mentioned when she can hopefully return. But those types of injuries usually take months to heal. So, at this time, unfortunately, we don’t have any further information on her return. Thanks for the question!
