St. Camillus / St. Virgilius MVPs of the Week

By Bill Swensen

The St. Camillus/ St. Virgilius basketball program is underway with 150 local kids from 4th grade to 8th grade, playing in the Girls and Boys leagues. Here are some standout players this week.

Ashley Chavanne

Girls League

Ashley not only scored 18 points, she also controlled every aspect of the game. She’s an extremely versatile player who can handle the ball at the point and still be able to dominate under the boards. She could easily score more, but Ashley is a very unselfish player, and she makes sure that she gets everybody on her team involved. She’s the kind of player that every coach loves having on their team. This week, she led her team to another commanding win.

Aryan Sharma

Aryan Sharma

Junior Boys League

Aryan’s clutch 14 points were the key that allowed his team to pull out a very exciting win. He was killing it under the boards on both ends of the court, and offensively, when he put up a three, it was literally nothing but net. A determined Blue team came storming back in the fourth quarter, but Aryan knocked down another key three pointer with the clock ticking away to secure a well-earned five point victory for his team.

Michael Pedone

Michael Pedone

Senior Boys League

Michael dropped 24 points of his team’s total of 55. His shooting from behind the arc was remarkable. He was launching these beautiful high arcing rainbow threes that just didn’t miss, but that’s certainly not his only talent. He played intensive defense and was making slick unstoppable moves to the basket as well. In a real nail biter of a game, he led his team to a tight three point win.
