Let’s Get Vaccinated

On Thursday, February 15 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., head to Queens Public Library Far Rockaway Swing Space (1003 Beach 20th Street) for assistance for older adults to get flu and Covid vaccines. RISE has a team of trained Community Health Workers who are coordinating vaccine appointments for local residents. See them at the RISE table in the library. Also, order your free at-home COVID-19 test kits at https://special.usps.com/testkits .

 

Black History Month Craft

On Thursday, February 15 at 4 p.m., head to Peninsula Library (92-25 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a Black History Month heart craft session and a story time for kids ages 5-12.

 

LIPA Public Comment Session

On Thursday, February 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., head to the Rockaway YMCA (207 Beach 73rd Street) to hear about LIPA’s Integrated Resource Plan and provide public feedback.

 

Breezy Point Tip Cleanup

On Saturday, February 17 at 10 a.m., head to the 222nd Street Fishing Lot in Breezy Point to join Jamaica Bay Wildlife and New York City Plover Project to help clean up the Breezy Point tip area to prepare for the 2023 Piping plover nesting season! All cleanup supplies (trash bags, gloves, grabbers) will be provided. Severe weather conditions will cancel this event. For questions, call the refuge at (718) 318-4340.

 

Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge Jr. Ranger Club

On Monday, February 19 at 10:30 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join Ranger Joelle to explore. You will explore different topics and talk about how to be a good steward for wildlife and nature. Program is followed by an official Jr. Ranger “swear-in” ceremony. This is an all-weather walk for children, so please dress for the conditions.

 

Free Film Feature

On Monday, February 19 at 7 p.m., head to Lighthouse (108-19 Rockaway Beach Drive), the creative pop-up space within the Coastal Market. Rockaway Creates is hosting the debut of “The Wallpaper Artist” a short documentary on Rockaway resident, entrepreneur and wallpaper Russel Siegel. Free.

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head to Seaside Library (116-15 Rockaway Beach Blvd.)  to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

 

Core on the Floor

On Mondays, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris leads a free 30-minute class focusing on core and lower body. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels are welcome!

 

Master Fitness™

On Mondays at 11 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), for a free 45-minute exercise class led by Ann Fosteris. All ages and fitness levels are welcome!

 

Unconventional Improv Class

On Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lighthouse at Coastal on Beach 109th, Enchantress Shane teaches the art of improv. For those 16 and up. No experience needed.

 

Crochet Club for Kids

On Fridays at 4 p.m., kids ages 8-12 are welcome Peninsula Library (92-25 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) to learn the basics of crocheting and how to make a scarf or handbag. Must call 718-634-1110 to reserve a space.
